GFT and INTEC Partner to Accelerate the Modernization of Europe’s Defense Sector Through Sovereign AI

Together, GFT and INTEC are supporting defense organizations in modernizing mission-critical systems faster, reducing complexity across the entire lifecycle, and retaining full operational control.

Stuttgart, June 11, 2026 – GFT Technologies and INTEC Industrie-Technik GmbH have entered into a strategic partnership to advance the modernization and operation of critical defense systems through sovereign, practical AI solutions. The partnership was announced at the ILA Berlin Air Show. Together, the companies are combining GFT’s expertise in AI and data, as well as its Wynxx Agentic AI Platform, with INTEC’s many years of experience in defense technology, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and lifecycle management.

The cooperation addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing European defense organizations: modernizing increasingly complex mission-critical systems at the pace demanded by current geopolitical conditions, while maintaining sovereignty, security, and operational control.

Defense organizations are currently facing growing backlogs in modernization and maintenance activities. Outdated software environments, fragmented lifecycle processes, and the high level of manual effort involved in technical documentation and maintenance are affecting operational readiness and increasing complexity. At the same time, pressure is mounting to shorten modernization cycles, strengthen resilience, and improve efficiency across the entire lifecycle of defense systems.

However, generic AI solutions are often unsuitable for classified, security-critical, and sovereign environments, where traceability, governance, and national control are indispensable.

This is precisely where GFT and INTEC are joining forces.

AI in Defense: From Pilot Projects to Sovereign Operational Deployment

The partnership is intended to help defense organizations move from isolated AI experiments to scalable operational applications. By combining sovereign AI architectures, responsible AI development, and in-depth defense expertise, the companies will support the modernization, operation, and lifecycle management of mission-critical systems across the air, land, maritime, and cyber domains.

The initial focus will be on areas such as the automated creation of technical documentation, the optimization of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and the modernization of existing software environments—fields in which numerous manual processes continue to dominate despite rising demands.

“We are convinced that the technology used to defend a country must serve its mission and must not create dependence on a single provider,” said Marco Santos, Global CEO of GFT Technologies. “GFT and INTEC are working together to bring responsible and sovereign data and AI solutions to the defense sector and integrate them into the development, modernization, and maintenance of mission-critical systems. By combining GFT’s unique AI capabilities with INTEC’s deep defense expertise, we are creating sovereign data platforms, secure cloud environments, and responsibly developed AI solutions to protect Europe.”

Technology Expertise Meets Defense Expertise

The cooperation brings together two complementary areas of expertise.

GFT contributes its expertise in responsible AI development, sovereign AI architectures, and the large-scale modernization of complex IT and system environments. This also includes the Wynxx Agentic AI Platform, which has already delivered measurable results in the modernization of legacy systems and the automation of technical documentation.

INTEC complements this with decades of experience in defense technology across the air, land, maritime, and cyber domains. Its portfolio includes system integration, weapons-system logistics, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), technical documentation, security and compliance, as well as unmanned systems.

Together, the companies aim to industrialize the use of AI in areas where trust, traceability, and operational reliability are critical. The joint approach is specifically designed for sovereign and classified operational scenarios. Data, models, and operational decisions remain under national control. At the same time, dependence on individual manufacturers is avoided through a model-open and vendor-neutral architecture.

“The modernization of defense systems is increasingly shaped by software, data, and intelligent lifecycle processes,” explained Christoph Otten, CEO of INTEC Group. “Our partnership with GFT combines proven defense-technology expertise with sovereign AI capabilities specifically developed for highly secure and mission-critical environments. This creates a practical path for defense organizations to implement their modernization initiatives more quickly while retaining full control over their systems, data, and operational processes.”

Making Europe’s Defense Future-Ready

The partnership reflects Europe’s growing need for trusted and sovereign technology solutions. This need is being driven by rising defense investment and increasing geopolitical fragmentation.

Rather than focusing on isolated AI pilot projects, GFT and INTEC are aligning their cooperation consistently toward operational deployment and measurable modernization results. To this end, the companies are combining responsible AI development, accreditation-oriented deployment models, and proven lifecycle expertise to support modernization projects across the entire system lifecycle—from software modernization and technical documentation to maintenance and operational readiness.

Areas of application include:

  • Sovereign AI and data platforms for classified environments
  • Optimization of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)
  • Modernization of existing software environments
  • Lifecycle intelligence and automated maintenance processes
  • AI-supported technical documentation and maintenance workflows

The cooperation builds on projects already jointly implemented in the field of sovereign AI and underscores the companies’ shared commitment to technological independence, trust, and resilience.
